About the Old Redingensians Association

Old boys of Reading School have been holding Annual Dinners since 1768. The first club was formed in 1888, becoming The Old Redingensians' Club in 1921. Today it is a registered charity and involved in a broad range of activities.

The Club has historically catered for its members' sporting activities using its sports ground in Sonning. This is now home to Redingensian RAMS Rugby Club.

Charitable Activity

The ORA supports Reading School by sponsoring a variety of activities including:

           Future Stories       Music Master Classes

           Book Week           Library Bequest

by providing financial support the ORA aims to enrich and enhance the student experience for those currently at the School.

Membership

Any member of staff or former student may join. There are overseas branches in the USA, Australia and France.  [Join the ORA]

Historic School Publications

The ORA assists with the content and publication of the School Magazine - Floreat Redingensis, to keep ORs up to date, as part of their life-long connection with the school. The ORA maintains the school archive which includes termly School Magazines going back to the 1930's. It also published The Old Redingensian for a number of years when no School Magazine was produced.

Commemoration

It is active in commemorating the achievements of past and present student of the School.

History

The Association is the custodian of an archive of historical material from which an electronic archive of images, records and reference sources is being created. Some archive material is already available on-line and can be accessed via this website.
